The furnace in your home is the  KEY of the entire HVAC system. It not only heats your home during winter but also moves cool air around in summer. It works all year round to keep you and your family comfortable. Unfortunately, it is the last equipment that most people will think to do maintenance on.

There are things that you can do to keep your furnace working in good performance like: changing filter regularly, keeping mechanical room clean, etc. However, if you want to get a deeper comprehension of your furnace's codition, it's better to call a professional.

When it comes to fireplace maintenance, cleaning is one of  the major jobs to do. You can definitely do it yourself with glass cleaner but the logs are fragile and you want to keep them intact and back to the same spot after the cleaning is complete.

At Presto Home Service, we don't only do the cleaning; we also check the thermopile condition and do a CO check with professinal equipment. Not like furnaces which do complete combustion, fireplaces do incomplete combustion and produce a lot of CO in the flue gas. That's how you have the yellowish color flame. You don't want CO leaking to your house. 

If you have a tankless water heater and you have hard water in your area, you should consider doing a maintenance on your water heater every year. Otherwise, the minerals in the water can build up in the thin tubes of the heat exchanger and lower the efficiency or even fail the unit.

If you have soft water, we still recommend you do a maintenance every two years just to keep it running properly.
